Place plays an important role in all of Templeton's rich sensory writing. The projects included below have been written to unlock special locations for visitors walking trails in headphones. These projects all combine immersive, poetic writing and evocative musical scores with carefully researched histories to engage audiences in heritage and natural history.
WORDS 2 EXPLORE (2022) was commissioned by Wakefield Council as a storytelling experience for children. Tailored to each of eight libraries in the Wakefield area, Words 2 Explore introduces kids to the What3Words navigation app and takes them on a stroll about town whilst they hear the story of Wakefield-born John 'Longitude' Harrison.
WESTGATE RISING (2021) is a heritage audio trail, featuring Templeton's distinctive poetic writing set to theatrical scores composed by Jamie Smith, and written in collaboration with photographer, Grant Lowe. Listen to extracts at https://soundcloud.com/user-416564763/tracks
ECHOES OF APPIN (2021) is a series of thirteen audio experiences for headphones, co-created with composer Jamie Smith. Templeton's texts evoke long histories, re-imagine well-known stories, and bring to life the natural landscapes and ice age origins of loch and glen. www.echoesofappin.org/
